Large-scale Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and encountered interruptions to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southern area, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and enforcing penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles struck energy facilities, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Local officials said the urban area endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor lost their life and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults succeed nights of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The whole nation is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and officials were preparing for additional strikes.
